Default Obama to ban kids from farming

Under this law kids wouldnt even be able to cut grass for extra money. I bought my first hunting rifle making money that way.

It's just another way the government is trying to control us.. they are taking away our liberties one at a time.. just little small things like this..but they are adding up to total control over what you do, where you work, how much you make, what God you can worship, what you are and are not allowed to say....Well, you get the idea, don't you comrade?

Here's a little shocker of a fact for you. Since 1996 there have been 59,000 new FEDERAL laws passed in the united states and ever single law takes away a little bit of someone's freedom. Think about it... You see, for decades, Washington has been adding to the number of federal laws and regulations that carry criminal penalties. Now the number is so high, no one is actually sure how many there are....but the best guess is 300,000 - 400,000. Put another way, 1 in every 100 people in the United States is now guilty of a federal crime...and most don't even know it. It's called overcriminalization.

some education about the law is apparently needed.
1st,it has been pulled
2nd,it was intended to take underaged workers out of dangerous work environments AND would have added some safeguards to kids working in the agriculture areas.

"
Under the rules, most children under 18 could no longer work "in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials."
"Prohibited places of employment," a Department press release read, "would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions."

seriously, some of these places of work are not for underaged workers.

Perhaps, but that decision is NOT and should NOT be the US Governments ...that decision should rest entirely with the child and the parents of the child. When I see 14 year old kids able to do backflips on 250cc motorcycles in the name of fun, then a little work back on the farm doesn't sound so bad to me. The last thing we need is another government regulation telling us what we, as parents, can and cannot do with our children. Accidents will always happen. When they do, it's a tragic thing for sure, but it's also a part of life. We cannot turn an entire industry upside down just to possibly prevent a few people from getting injured. For some people, that are trying to keep people from getting hurt, it's a noble ambition, and is to be applauded... but hiding in the wings is an entirely different set of people that champion crusades like this, and all the while they are congratulating themelves on how they now control another group of people.

Don't those kids on motorcycles have helmets, gloves, boots, etc., for protection??
on family farms there are ALOT of dangers that underage family members/friends are exposed to and shouldn't be.several that always come to mind are pto shafts that have had protective shrouds missing, augers w/out the proper protective covers and kids operating tractors that most don't have proper training on and in many cases rollovers occur.look up the injury numbers associated with farms and then look at the ages of those injured.
I'm not for more gov't but i am very much for protecting kids from un-necessary injuuries or death.I worked on many different farms when i was in school and saw alot of these situations.all it takes is one shroud that has been removed and a split second and the result is forever.
if SOME regulations help remedy the problem then I'm all for it.
all it takes is seeing 1 person who's been caught up in a pto shaft to be convinced that some regulations would help.

I was a maintenance machinist for a lot of years... safety guards missing from equipment is a danger no matter where you are. One of the worst days of my life was when I had to crawl into a Bobst die cutter machine and remove a guys arm that had been torn off because he removed a safery guard so the machine could go faster.
No one is arguing that equipment should be safe. But to say that a PERSON cannot operate that equipment, safe or not, is a completely different matter. I just think that it's the parents call, not some government beauracrat.
