I have a buddy that needs a powerhead for his Yammaha 40. If he's off tomorrow we might try to get in touch with you.

A mouse chewed on one of the plug wires since I last ran it. Not all the way through, just a little insulation. Motor sat for years before a buddy of mine got it and then sold it to me. He ran it when I bought it form him, I ran with some fresh gas before I removed it from the boat and hung it on the fence. Engine would start and run fine, the shifter didn't want to shift into gear. Could be a cable, could be the shifter, could need a little grease somewhere. The neutral throttle lever worked fined and you could rev the engine while running in neutral. What's your friends name? I've got a guy from Richmond Hill coming by today to do a compression check.

Motor sold today. Turns out it had only 40 psi on the top cylinder. Sold it to a fella named Adam who bought an old hull from me a little while ago.

Those Yamaha's are something. My buddy's had low compression on two of the three cylinders and still ran like a top. The head was so bad water would shoot out of the top of the head and also leaked in to the top cylinder, still ran great out of the water.

People can say what they want about the Japs, most of they're stuff is very reliable. I had an old 80's Suzuki 50 that was a CHUNCK of corrosion, Like no more paint left on the lower unit, paint blistering off the mid section, giant pits in the gear case, water pissing all over the power head and spark plugs. Ran like a scalded dog when reved up, zero water in the gearcase, and had 120 psi cold on both cylinders.
