Default Dark, Dark Days......

Well after a bout with lymphoma I lost my very best good friend Buddy on Saturday at only 6 yrs old. I got a call from my wife who was hysterical and rushed home to find him on the floor unconscious and bleeding. He lost about a pint of blood due to internal bleeding and shortly after died in my arms.

Words cant describe how much this hound meant to me, his mom and brother. He was truly unlike any other dog I've ever known. Besides pictures/memories we have his collar and a lump in our throats to remember him by. His brother isn't takin it any better either(not really his brother but you couldn't tell either of them that) and has been mopin around since he licked Buddy goodbye there on the floor.

We took Buddy in to be cremated on Sunday and it started raining the second we walked out, kinda ironic. We plan on spreadin his ashes in the ocean when we get them back.

It was by far the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I know in time it will heal but its just not the same around the house without him.

Spend as much time as you can with your dogs as you never know when they may be taken away. You can try to love them as much as they love you but you will never succeed. I'd give anything in this world to run around with him on the beach again......even my Welly

Sorry for your loss, and I understand where your coming from. For me it is harder losing a pet than a relative. I've lost many a good friend over the years, and miss them all deeply still today. All we can do is be good to them while they are with us, and remember them when they leave us.

So sorry for your loss. I know the feeling, having to have put down 2 long time pet dogs, both times in my arms. I still feel the heartache and I don't care what anyone says, it leaves a big hole in your heart.

SSIRED, sorry for your loss. I feel the same way about my 5 y.o. pound dog. Recently dropped 4k on her for surgery after a ruptured disk that paralyzed her. She's back to getting around pretty good now but is restricted from stairs for the rest of her days, which kinda sucks b/c our house has a reverse floor plan.....meaning I get to lug her 50 lb arse up and down daily....which I do not mind one bit. She's come to expect that I will carry her up any steps she encounters.

It is hard enough to lose one at 13 + years old. You really don't expect to lose them any sooner.

Really sorry about your Buddy my friend.

Cool

Truly sorry for your loss. Nothing I or anyone else can say that will ever relieve the ache in your heart. Given my "advanced" age, I've gone thru that heartache a number of times myself. The best I can tell you is that you should try to remember all the good times you had with him. In time a new Buddy will come along and help, but there will always be the joy that he brought you for you to look back upon. God bless.

Sad story.

They don't call dogs "Man's best friend" for no reason.

They don't live long enough as it is.

So sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your sympathetic replies fellas.

We have a baby girl comin in two weeks so it will be a nice distraction. I just wish she could have met the best dog ever.......

Wife is doin better though which is great and Ive found other things to keep my mind busy but the nights are the worst. I think it will take some time for his brother to feel better tho. Already he is getting blamed for all the farts and torn up food bags we left out.

Again thanks fellas, I didn't mean for this to be so gloom and doom but more of a be thankful for whatcha got kinda thing.......

Destroyer's right...nothing we can say will make it any better...just know that you are among like-minded people here...when we sell this house, it'll be easy walking away from all but the pet-cemetery we started 20 years ago in a glenn down in the woods...several incredibly good friends and wonderful souls there...hope their head stones are never disturbed and they truly rest in peace forever...

I am sorry for your loss...when they go, they leave a void no other will ever fill..really, that's as it should be.

Sorry for your loss Henry, We have 6 jack russels and when we talk about getting rid of one, we just can't. We know what it's like to loose one.
