Default Outboard Colors

Bgreene had a good question for me about the difference in outboard colors from the same company. I have a blue Evenrude not white. Does this mean it is a "freshwater" motor?

I think it means that the marketing dept thought blue would sell. But then again, what the heck do I know...

mostly to 90% of the stainless bolts in outboards the paint doesn't stick too, so it is peeling off and the nice shine of stainless id showing i'll get ya some pics.

Easiest test is to grab a magnet, the magnet won't stick to stainless. Alot of the issues with the differrent color I believe had to do with bass boats. People with bass boats want an engine with color to it hanging off the transom vs a plain jane white engine.

After I posted, it occurred to me there might be a universal mark for SS on the head of all bolts as well...Ferm's magnet idea would work too...but heck yeah...pics always good...

actually the magnet won't work omc used poor cheap grade stainless and it has enough steel that a magnet will stick to them.

Two separate Evinrude guys told me the same thing ......... the motors are the same.
Both fine to run in fresh or salt water.

Whatever differences, minor as in non issue.
