| Biggest engine on a SeaDrive ????

What is the largest JohnRude I can mount on the 1.6L SeaDrive??? Mine is going to need to be upgraded... Can I go with one of the Mid 90's 150 HP engines???? or is the 140 the largest I can use?? This would be a temporary fix until I can get it all together to add a bracket & new 175 Optimax.. Thanks, Thirdcoast |

Honestly you would be money ahead to get a bracket and mount the 150 or whatever on that as the old sea-drives are almost impossible to get parts for anymore. Most all of them now leak down when trimmed up, and you simply can't get the parts to fix em.

Actually, my SeaDrive is in very good condition.. Just rebuilt the hydraulic steering, hydraulic hoses etc.. Just want to do a quick fix for this summer then next year do the bracket etc... Unless I buy an inboard or an inboard with a Jackshaft IO, like the Albemarle which is what I really want for Tarpon fishing & near offshore... Thirdcoast |

They hung 225's on them from the factory, so just about any engine will work. Just make sure it's a 25" shaft and you can get the bolts out of the mounts so you can swap em over.
