Default the deal curse strikes me again...now what size engine?

I was picking up my v20 from the shop the other day and got to talking to the owner about a mckee 14' boat that was sitting there. Long story short, he told me it was a mutual friends boat and he only wanted $300 bucks for it... Well you know what happens after that, and now i'm looking for a small engine for it. Anyone know what size shaft I need? Anybody got a small engine laying around they need to get rid of? Was hoping for a 50hp, but would go for anything above 30... Again, just not sure what shaft size it needs. It is an old mckee 14' boat.

Should be the same as the old 13' Whalers and require a short (15") shaft. Just measure the top of your transom (where the motor mounts) to the keel.

takes a 20" shaft, I've got a 60 Merc on mine, just about have it finished, a freind of mine has a 70 Johnrude on his, says it more than enough, but he had one a few years back with a 50 rude and it wasn't enough. I curious how mine is going to run. Hope to have it finished next weekend.

I'll take it off your hands for $400 and just use my 9.9hp on it.

Dads 14 has a 1988 40 hp and pushes close to 30 mph which seems like 100 mph in a 14' boat. I would go 50 + hp because dad's could use a little more umpf coming out of the hold with 3 fat guys in it. Top end is sufficient though.

A guy that fishes out of MI has one just like it w/ a newer yamaha 60hp 4 stroke. Love those little boats. I've king fished out of dad's at the 3 mile.

Good score. If you decide to get rid of it keep me in mind.
