Default Hydraulic Helm Test

Is there a way to test the helm without having the cylinder? Noticed that my boat came with hydraulic helm, but I don't have the cylinder.

Trying to figure out if I need a full setup or just the rear cylinder and new lines?

Hopefully the helm is good to avoid more $$ spending.

What kind of helm is it? To really test it you need a ram or to make some sort of manifold to check the pressure that each side can make. If it is the old HYNAUTIC system I would reccomend ditching it as parts are not really available for them anymore and are getting pretty worn out as they haven't been produced for some time.
