Default 1999 Mercury 90hp

My friend just bought a 1999 Mercury 90 hp as is for $900.00 cash......anybody know the scoop on this outboard?

Is it a good model?

$10 per horsepower for a 10 yr old motor. Not bad if you ask me! I know absoutely nothing about mercury engines except they supposedly start better than johnnyrudes. And that is 2nd hand info right there.

Great Reliable Motors. These are the same old 3 cylinder engines they have been producing for many many years. Make sure to stay on top of the carbon . . . compression should be around 120psi in all 3 clyinders. They are not performance motors and the heads are cast into the block. Check the clear hoses around the oil injection and check the weep hole on the poppet cover for leaks when the motor is running.
