From another forum's post.

Now some people may think it's crazy to fish for swords in a 19 foot CC, but we pick our days carefully...or so we thought. We get out of Lantana around 2pm, depthfinder....check, gps....check, vhf....check. Here are two pics of Bill and I on our way out: ![]() The wind's howling out of the south so we figure we better get south quick before things pick up. We were cruising in about 40 feet of water, and decide to head out to 90 to check out the boca stinkhole. After a couple of minutes, Capt. Max (me) decides we better stay closer in. Then it happens . The boat hits a wave, and I mutter a few expletives and tell Bill that something is really wrong...I mean really wrong. I look over the port side and we're going down fast, a huge part of the port side fiberglass has delaminated completely. A mayday call is made and we start hauling towards the beach, meanwhile, the battery compartment of the boat is completely flooded and the water keeps on rising. We're running about 5 knots straight for spanish river beach, flares are shot, and adrenaline is pumping. We manage to beach it, motor is still running, bilge is still spitting, electronics are still on. Now if someone could tell me how the electronics were still on despite the battery being submerged, I would love to know (current from engine alternator, maybe?) Never the less, we start pulling electronics, rods, reels, tackle, etc. etc. off like crazy and manage to get everything out of the boat. Then I realize the reason I should have paid the $116 to have Tow Boat US ins. 4 or 5 LEO boats, and 4 tow boats are surrounding us, beach patrol tries to pull the boat up on the beach with a club car That didn't work. We ended up finding out a key piece of information from a boca marine police officer. For $250, the beach raker in the tractor will pull the boat to the access point and put it on the trailer - $250! So we gather all the gear, load it into 2 boca beach police buggies, and met a buddy at the access. If I learned anything today, it was not to EVER buy a Bayliner Trophy...EVER! Those chintzy pieces of are made so cheaply and this is the SECOND, yes the SECOND trophy I've been on or used that has sunk for reasons other than operator error. So for all those wondering what all the commotion was about around Boca, I give it to you. Here are some pics of the crowd and the damage. I was invited on a friend's whaler to finish the fishing trip, but I respectably declined, maybe tomorrow. So Something Fishy is no more. I think I'll name the next boat Frankenboat, as we'll be taking all of the electronics and maybe even the console off of the old Piece o' and putting it on something more solid. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A 18-21 FT. HULL FOR SALE, PM ME!!!! For your viewing enjoyment:

He doesn't even have the helm on the right side of the boat. He deserves another Bayliner.
