Default need help on transom repair

I'm sure it has been talked about here hundreds of times, but i am looking to have someone replace the transom on my 78 cuddy. i talked to a guy here in Houston who sounded like he knows what he is doing from a company called westside fiberglass in katy tx. has anyone heard on him. if not, does any one know who could do it correctly in south texas. the closer to corpus christi the better (that's where the boat is located at). this guy had told me that the worst case senario, if he had to cut the whole thing out and start new would be around 4K. he also said that he only uses some kind of resin that he makes himself and that it would be replaced without any wood. just solid resin and that it will last longer then the rest of the boat. i have heard about this in other treads but not to familiar about the pros and cons. what do y'all think.
