| Shaft Length

I bought my hull 2 years back and now have the $$ to put on the Motor, an Evinrude 150. So the question is: What shaft length do I need...20 or 25? Im sure this question seems simple, cuz, well, it is, but i wanna make sure this motor I buy is right. O, plus my transom feels weak, but me and my other friend (combined weight 420+ pounds) hung on it and figured it was most likely strong enough, but we dont wanna drop a motor in the ocean and be stuck in a sinking boat... So I'm lookin for ideas on how to sure that bad boy up. MMMMk thanks.

Kirby, welcome. Someone just today asked the same question. *Here is the link. *This should help: http://www.wellcraftv20.com/cgi-bin/...num=1176734394 BTW - what makes you feel as if the transom is weak? If you can move it, that is not good.

I don't blame you for being anxious to get to the water - these are great boats for sure. * Kirby, still not sure exactly what you mean by "gaps b/t vertical and horizontal pieces". Kirby I realize you do not have your motor mounted yet, but a good rule of thumb that alot of these guys on here use to tell if the transom is strong is to stand on the lower unit and bounce the boat up and down. *If you do not hear a bunch of cracking and popping and she doesn't move back and forth you should be fine. *As for when the motor is not on there, you can drill small holes in the transom where the suspected rot is. *If dirty wood comes out, your transom is rotten. *If clean wood shavings come out, should be good to go. *Then of course you have to patch those holes up real good with marinetex, formula 27, or 3M 5200 but at least you'll know whether the wood is good in your transom.

Yep, PICTURES,PICTURES. Don't depend on you and your buddy bouncing on the transom. The motor needs to be in place and just you act like a horney monkey jirating. If it moves work on the assend. I'm presently doing mine. It'll set you back about 4 days work and $250.

Much thanks on the help guys. Ill be home this weekend and ill shoot a couple pics with the tarp on (you can still see the paint job). What happens if I find some rotten wood comin out? It'll prolly be more than just epoxy at that point huh. Once again thanks for the help... this place is fantastic. I knew these boats were good, apparently much better than I expected.
