Hey Maco...looks like you were thinkin' about starboard hatch lids...did mine out of 3/4 starboard 5 years ago...no extra bracing, no other modifications, no problems...just cut s-board to fit opening(this plastic DOES expand in hot weather, so allow for that)...drilled and routed finger holes at each end and they've been bullet-proof! Got a buddy, must weigh 350lbs or so...walked all over these lids w/no probs...What did you wind up doin' on yours?

I am going to do the same soon. I just ran out of time!! I got a new Job and had to finish the boat and got the new trailer and had to bring the Camper to the camp grounds, all kind of the same time!!!
Looks like its going to be a fall project! But i am glad to here that what I thought would work will!! I am 320# so I was concerned that it wasn't going to be strong?? But after talking to the guy at Starboard, and now you a real live person who has done it I am sure its going to be fine!! One thing, How are they when wet?? I was thinking they might be a little slipey??

No..they really aren't slippery when wet...there is a SLIGHT grain on the surface of this stuff...don't know if that's what keeps the slippens away or not...down here in the south, this stuff does tend to get a little WARM when it's been in direct sunlight...you won't stand on it long barefooted...oh...ah...oh...ah...
