Default 1976 V20, Mercury 115, trailer - all rough

Hey guys - this is the one that was on Ebay some time back - I bought it offline on a gamble sight unseen. As you can see in the description I put on Ebay, the boat is a major project, not for the newbie certainly. Lots of decent parts for sure - if I had the time I would strip it down and sell the windows, seats, bimini, etc. seperately, but the time/money equation does not work out for me. If it sells for a $1 that would be fine. If it doesn't sell it gets scrapped.

Its a 1976, bad transom, bad - well, if I kept listing bad things it would go on forever. It has some high points, but I would discourage ANY first time buyer from even clicking this link or being tempted. If you have experience or know those who do, have at it.

On another note, you will see that this guy (Bob at IAB trailers) really misrepresented the trailer, which is what I really wanted. I actually don't care that much about losing the money - the boat was a gamble that failed, but I continue to be amused that this guy still refuses to admit the trailer is far from being the "good" trailer he described. Just look at the pictures and think twice before buying something from this guy.

I am also still waiting on the keys from this guy, when I get them I will have the mechanic at the marina turn the engine over, but don't count on it before close of auction, at which point its either sold or scrapped (r I will give it to someone if its unsold at end of auction, but it would have to be removed immediately).

Finally, thanks to everyone here for there advice, comments, etc.

where's the boat currently located? Is the trailer road worthy for some distance?

A lot more detail in the Ebay ad - definitely look that over. The boat is in Easton, MD right off Route 50 at a marina - 25 minutes from Bay Bridge.

As for roadworthy, as I say in the ad - I have no trailer experience, but it looks scary to me. Its the rusted supports. It was towed from Jersey and then 65 miles three weeks ago from OC to Easton, but don't count on that for much.

You'll need to fill those Norton's with gas too if you go triples (unless you go diesel). ;D

Winsotnbike - you left out the funniest part of this guy's auction details...his conclusion. Check it out - LMFAO ;D

"In Conclusion...

What great times I have had on this boat. Staring incredulously at the rusted trailer supports, rocking the transom back and forth, admiring the handiwork of whatever 4 year old fixed the transom and trim plate - I get misty eyed just thinking about it. "

Sadly Blue Runner - its not "some guy" - its me... I agreed to take this boat before you had given me the details on yours, had it brought to a marina near my place on the Bay - and the rest is history.

That boat may be titled as a '76, but lookin' a the transom HID, it's clearly a '77...so I think you oughtta ask $2 for it...lotta work, but it would be doable...FIRST thing would be to TRASH that old motor...only way to deal w/it and not be wastin' time...cut all those rollers off the trailer and go back w/bunks (might need to replace axle...Champion's got a shelf full of 'em)...unless ALL the wood coring is MUSH... :)...
