Default Catching what?

Need a little help, I have a friend who is heading out to the Outer Banks this weekend, yeah this weekend. He would like to what what they are catching off the surf? I told him he might become part of the surf. When I was there a few years ago, the only fish we caught were Spots and Lafayette's, but it was earlier than September and was told there wasn't much to catch at that time of the year.
Thanks !!

Cool

He might want to rethink his trip with Irma about to hit this weekend. That storm is a monster that's 400 miles wide. (About the size of Georgia and Alabama put together). I don't think it will be that far up north by then, but there's a LOT of "ifs" in play right now.

As to fish, I've caught blues in Dec in NJ waters, so a lots going to depend on bait and water temp.

I told him rethink that trip, but his wife isn't going to change her mind, it's made up and that's it.
I was told the Blues don't come there until they leave here and there isn't much to fish for. Thanks !!

Looks like your buddy lucked out.

Red drum, black drum, trout, flounder, and pompano can be caught this time of year. Or pinfish, you just never know.

Hope he did well.
