Default New (to me) toy

I ran across this for a couple hundreds bucks and couldnt pass it up. Its an 87' Kawasaki KX 250. Ive been wanting a dirt bike to ride with my daughter at an offroad park near my hunting camp. She has a XR80 that just sits up because we all know riding alone is no fun.

Anyways, I been tinkering with it the last couple days and got it running yesterday. Its been bored over and jetted and DAYUM its scary fast.

I started riding when I was about 6 and Ive owned and ridden my share of sport bikes so speed is no stranger to me but this 2 stroke is a different animal all together. The powerband is going to take some getting use to. It will pull the front tire off the ground with my 210lbs on in fourth gear no problem.

Anyways, thought Id shared with yall. Now that I got it running and I know its worth fooling with Ill be tearing it apart, going through everything, the shocks, painting, bearings, etc...

Be CAREFUL... I rode 250 mx'ers for years and LOVE em but with a bike that will do 70 mph RIGHT NOW when it goes wrong it happens FAST! Most recently I had an 87 zuki rm 250 w an la sleeve 295 big bore kit, fmp pipe n silencer boysean dual stage reeds bigger carb and some nasty port work... would wheelie rolling in top gear at 70 mph like it was nothing..... Also had a 91 rmx 250 all stock... same as an rm except wider gear spacing and a headlight.... Wish I still had that one.... Sold em when I was your age after busting several ribs and removing the skin from my right arm, chest, both knees, side of my right hand, right hip, and a$$ cheeks... seems like there were a couple broken fingers in that one too..... Took a WHILE to heal up that time. That certainly wasn't my first crash but at 35 I didn't bounce like I did at 20.

I also had a 4 wheeler that actually broke my buddy's foot by kicking back when he tried to start it in tennis shoes... was a nasty zuki lt-500r

DAMN look what you went and did.... got me thinkin and now I gotta go check craigslist....

Yesterdays lesson, when your scottish neighbor pulls up on his four wheeler drinking a beer and says " hey have you been down the power line, its not muddy at all" he is lying.

I sunk it to the frame and had to lift it out a couple times. Also fell on my azz in the mud trying to get it out and lost my boots and had to dig them up too. Im sore this morning, Im too old for that crap.

You are partially correct, some holes I would just twist it and bail off to get it through and end up on my back in the mud. At least then I didnt have to dig me AND it out.

Theres a very FINE line on that thing between enough throttle to look like a genius and "oh ****, Im hurt". Im trying to err on the side of caution. I know Im "only" 35 but things hurt more now than they once did.
