Default No fuel HELP

I have changed the anti-siphon tub for a new one without an anti-siphon tube, I fixed some cracked lines, replaced the water separator, cleaned the carburetor, cleaned the fuel pump and....NOTHING. No fuel wants to come into the carb. I don't understand what I am doing wrong, but is it possible that the system lost its prime and now the old pump isn't strong enough to suck fuel from the tank into the water separator and into the carb? The pump was full of varnish, which I removed and cleaned out, cleaned off the seats where the two halves come together, and there was a little varnish on the edges of the diaphragm, but not much and it was on the outside. The diaphragm itself looked good without any tears or wear spots. Any ideas guys?
