Set up on some rough bottom and bailed little seabass no stop with some nice keeper porgies and seabass mixed in.
By early afternoon, the wind shifted from SW to S and it was a rough ride straight into it all the way back to Shark River inlet. Roughest conditions I've been out in the V21 so far....tabs down, engine tucked, and made 3,500 rpm, then 3,000 as it built to 4-5' with a few bigger sets. Had the curtains up, but not the bow cover because we're making an adjustment. Anyway, glad I had the curtains today because it was comin' on good !! Was actually glad to get inside the inlet...... Also, met some good people on a very clean 86' V20 back at the ramp. Asked if he used this site - nope, wasn't aware of it so hopefully will take a look. I said it was " sporty out there " ...... that got some laughs |

No pics worth posting Charlie, but it was an interesting ride.
I pushed the boat a bit.......not to make it pound.....rather to see how the hull handles this size ocean close chop and wave action quartering off the bow and dead on the bow. Keeping the tabs down to the right degree, and the engine tucked, I was easing the throttle forward to about 3, 800 and really cutting into those seas. Got to feel it out pretty well and then found the sweet spot of approx. 3,500 rpm for most of the ride back - at about 17 knots. Had to back down to 3,000 rpm towards the end because the seas were really getting nasty, with some big waves - big enough to change course to go around and avoid. Grady White 20' and a CC of some sort fell slowly behind.......NOT because I was forcing the V21.... I don't believe in pounding a boat apart. So I can say with experience - this is a good riding boat with trim tabs. Wellcraft could have also built the components to make it a tank too, but we know how this boat ranks, and why it's a good value for the cost. |

No pics of the seas? I remember once me and dad went out of Orange Beach on the V20 along with a friend who was on his 21 Proline. Basically wind turned and we got our asses handed to us and had to head in. Got almost to the Perdido Pass and a charter boat captain hollared over the vhf. Are you boys getting a bath over there? Dad replied nope we're dry as a bone. Then Gary hollars bs he is soaked. lol. we get back to the dock and they are literally dripping wet. Everybody on the V20 was dry.
Good report. Glad I bought trim tabs for my V20.

Remember the boat could take more then the crew! Play it safe, you only have a 20 footer with about a bottom wetting surface of maybe 17
feet depending on speed.
