I removed the rotting back to back from my prestine rig.......
It sat over the built in fish box that was original equipment on my 96 201. Question is - where to find a suitable back to back or similar set up to maintain access to the fish box ? |

I think you may end up needing to have the old seat rebuilt. It is on a sliding track if I remember correctly.

this company seems to offer far more variations on height and color combinations than any i have found.my back to back is on order now.

Nip - Upon inspection, that's what I've decided to do, and started the project tonight.
The seat vinyl is actually in solid condition, as well as the foam. It was the lousy plywood which I assume original that rotted out. So.........I've removed it from the boat, disassembled, cleaning the vinyl etc....... I'm using the remaining plywood pieces to trace out replacement using pressure treated or marine grade, plus applying a barrier coating. I'll invest some man hours, but hopefully save some $$$ and still have it " original"...... Frame was in ok condition. |

Suggest you make sure the treated or marine grade wood you use is DRY throughout before applying a barrier coat

So far:
1. removed the complete seat / track unit from the boat 2. removed vinyl seats, foam, and wood. 3. traced out new wood parts, coated, thoroughly cleaned the vinyl - had heavy mold build up on the inside, but still in great shape otherwise. Painted wood sections. All dry and ready to assemble now......... |

After all that hard work, make sure to use stainless steel or monel staples to put the vinyl back on. Regular staples would rust real quickly and make a mess of your job.
