Default Yakin Saturday

We had a great time today at Dauphin Island yakin...weather was great (hot of course) but sunny with light winds.

We got into a sfew specks and even got a couple flounder too. I accidentaly realeased 4 specks trying to handle em in the YAK. Im getting some boga grip or the like this week!

He are a few pics.

Me fishing:

My ice chest later in the day:

One good lookin yaker:

Danny:

Here is a boat that caught on fire. We paddled over to help but they had it but out. Their life jackets burned up under the console. I got over there (danny was there first) and told him I dont know what we could do but we would help if we could. One of the guys said "If we wouldnt have gotten the fire out I was gonna lay across that yak till the CG gets here if you dont mind!"

They still had engine electrical but it burned up everything else so they made it in ok.

We paddled over 5 miles! Good times!!

Man Stinky. You dove into this head first didn't you? You are one good looking yakker. Looks like you're having a hell of a time and loving every minute of it.

BTW; My brother now lives about 30 minutes west of you.

Default Nice!

I sold my tarpon 13 When I moved back from Atlanta........stupid, stupid stupid! I know plenty of guys that burned hundreds of dollars of gas to get half a bag like that this weekend.........you are the man! I think its time to get another kayak and carry it in the V20 to the skinny water and paddle from there.

Man Stink you look like you been yakin for years. I see your friend has the Fish and Dive I bought a FND last week in Graphite. I had it out twice last weekend and can't wait to get out again this weekend. I will try and get some pics this time.

How are you powering your fishfinder?

CB I am definitely loving it. Just having so much experience on the water has helped me dive into it pretty easily.

That F&D is a nice boat...plenty of room, plenty of stability and plenty of storage. I ALMOST bought one but after Saturday glad I didn't. My Redfish will SMOKE it with half the effort.

I am powering the fish finder with a small motorcycle battery.

However, most of the guys in my club use the small rechargeable 9.6V RC car batterys. Easy to recharge and last all day with no problems. I will eventually go to that but I had the motorcycle battery anyways. They don't require 12v to run though because the 9.6 runs em fine. I forgot to charge mine and it read 7.5V most of the day....never missed a beat.

I have some R/C plane batteries, I was figuring I could get away with running a fishfinder on them. I'm looking at the Eagle Cuda 242 @ Walmart for $80, it looks perfect for a yak. Cheap, waterproof and low voltage draw.
