'91 V20 Fishbox Question

My fishbox has 2 drains. A small (around 1/2"") plastic one and a 1" brass drain. I have a brass thru hull on the starboard side of the boat and a plastic thru hull right next to the bilge pump thru hull. The plastic one would require a pump. I don't have a switch for one??? Any ideas. Thanks

If the need is to fill or empty the water with a pump, just fuse and mount a momentary contact switch adjacent the fishbox.
However if the idea is to use it as a livewell, do the same thing but use this instead of the momentary contact switch.

This livewell timer is fully adjustable. The "On" cycle will run for 30 seconds. The "Off" cycle will run from 5 seconds to 5.5 minutes. This unit has a continuous run option for filling the livewell. It also feature water tight solid state components. It has the power to run multiple pumps.
10 amp variable livewell aerator timer. 30 seconds "ON" cycle. Variable 5 seconds for 5-1/2 minutes "OFF" cycle. Continuous mode for filling the livewell. Capacity to run multiple pumps. Easy installation.

Sorry, my question was a little confusing. What I can't figure out(until I pull the soft gas tank cover) is how the infloor fish box is plumbed. I would assume that the brass fishbox drain went to the brass thruhull at the waterline and the plastic drain went to the plastic thruhull next to the bilge pump thruhull. If that's the case it would reuire a pump because it's higher than the fishbox. The brass thruhull is at the waterline. 2 things confuse me, when I cleaned the bilge it backed up into the fishbox, and I don't have a switch for a pump that I would certainly need on the other drain. I guess I need to get under there and make sure I don't have a hose off, and an open thruhull. Any input? Thanks

I have the same year as you, the brass ovbd is hooked to a pump, the plastic one drains directly into the bilge. Why I don't know why they did that but there is pmp, if you pull yr inspection cvr there you will see it and that's the 1 that goes ovbd. I pulled my pump and plugged the ovbd drain and I just use it for a fish box and my ice drai ns into the bilge.

These are Navy abreviations. I was a naval arch and these were abbreviations we used everyday writing repair work instructions.

Sorry for the confusion:

my deck "fish box" between the front 2 seats has 2 drains in it. One has a pump attached to it that circulates water into the "fish box". This water then drains into the 2nd drain hole that is open to the bilge.

I found mine one real quiet day when I turned a pump switch on. This pump only circulates but is attached to a brass ovbd fitting that is under the waterline.

So if you wanted to use as a livewell, you would want to be sure the bilge pump is operating fine?
Will it retain enough water level to use as a livewell with the incoming pump turned off or to have a timer switch operating the pump?

Just trying to understand how it was intended to operate.
If it were mine, I'd have done what you did.

I've got it sorted out.

After cleaning the boat yesterday, (1- Seatrout caught and a 4' Tarpon jumped twice right next to the boat) I did some digging.

I do have a pump and a switch. I thought the pump switch was for the washdown pump that doesn't work, but it has a separate switch above the spigot. I checked the fuse and the connections and it(fishbox pump) started working. I'll replace the fuse and connections soon.

The brass drain in the fishbox drains directly into the bilge. The plastic drain has the pump on it and pumps out the fishbox next to the bilge pump outlet. With the brass drain plugged, guts and blood stay out of the bilge. The brass thruhull is actually connected to a 3rd overflow drain on the rim of the fishbox.
