I have a console/helm out of a '79 cuddy which i will be making a mold out of, but i would like to modernize the console somewhat. What I'm looking for is some input from the guys who have older V's to see what changes you would make to the console if you could. Maybe give it a sleeker look or possibly more room to mount electronics. Let me know what y'all think!

As I recall, it needs either more room on top to mount electronics or more space on the face for same purpose

I agree with RAP, I think it needs both. My '85 goes up the dash, and then like the roof of a house, slopes back down to the windshield, with a flat spot for the mag. compass - the back side is really useless. If I were changing it (and I probably won't), I would make more flat on top, a little more dash area, and eliminate as many humps and bumps as possible so you can mount switches, fuse panels, etc.. Maybe make the dash a little more vertical, so if you mount the fish finder in it, you can see it from the back deck better.

Thanks guys for your ideas! It'll probably be one of my last projects, but just wanted to get some input! Much appreciated!
