Here goes,

The following is absolute truth, no BS.


It all started when I was in my senior year of high school. I had just gotten my first real girlfriend….hang on, let’s backtrack a bit.

I know that sounds sad folks, but I chose it to be this way. Although I had plenty of opportunities to date throughout high school it wasn’t of any interest to me. The reason being is that literally since I was about 13 or 14 I prayed every night for God to send me whom HE wanted me to be with. With that in mind I never even bothered dating anyone around me because they were all stupid, typical high school chicks. They all drank, smoked, and partied, none of which I was interested in. I was saving myself for THE one.

Ok back to the story. I was dating my first girlfriend named Julia. She was a girl from my church. This lasted a few weeks and I quickly realized although she was a Christian (that’s what interested me) she was very immature and a typical airhead to boot. Throughout our “relationship” I had become acquainted with her best friend named Leslie. Leslie had gone on a couple double dates with us as I had brought a buddy along to see if they would hit it off. They never were anything more than friends.

One day as I was frustrated over my IQ lacking girlfriend and I gave Leslie a call to talk to her about the situation and see if she could help resolve it. She tried to comfort me as best she could. She would talk to Julia and all, but the bottom line is that she just wasn’t ready for a serious relationship. She had lots of growing up left to do.

Note: Leslie NEVER came on to me of let on she liked me at all.

Well, things continued until it was broke of with Julia and I kept in touch with Leslie for a couple weeks thereafter. One night while we were on the phone I let her know I was interested in dating her. She finally let me know she had been anxiously waiting and biting her tongue throughout this whole ordeal and that she felt the same way. We talked on the phone into the wee hours of the morning. It was at this point I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt she was my God sent Angel. I knew we would marry and live happily ever after even though I had never even been on a technical “date” with the girl.

I woke up that day with only an hour or two of sleep under my belt, but had never felt so alive. I floated through the day till I could go see her that evening after we got home from school. We decided on a movie at her house since her mom wasn’t going to let her go off with someone she had never met. Note: at the time she was 15, I was 17. Kind of dirty, I know LOL, but keep reading.

I made it over there and she met me outside with this huge embracing hug. I felt like I had at that point I had known her forever, yet everything felt so new. We went inside and watched a flick until it was time for me to leave. On the curb of her apartment I was preparing to bid her a due with a hug and kiss on the cheek. Before I had the opportunity she grabbed me by my big ol dumb ears and mopped my tonsils!!!

WOW, my first real date, real girlfriend and real kiss all in the same night!!! I must be the SHIZZLE!!! I almost wrecked driving home several times.

From that point on it has been absolute bliss. Just over a year later we were married. She was 16 and I was 18 at the time. No she wasn’t pregnant as most would assume and as a matter of fact we were both still virgins. Her mom signed for her as she knew me well by this time and knew I wasn’t going away anytime soon. She also knew this was the real deal and we were meant to be together.

Two beautiful little girls and 10 years later here we are. I am the most blessed man I know and I live everyday in this fantasy called my life. I wake up each morning and look over at her confused and bewildered as to what I have done to deserve this, yet knowing for certain one thing…..when God answers prayers he does it right. ;)

Mine is sort of similar,

working in the local diner when one of the waittress tells her friend about me.
We meet, hit it off, two boys and 30 years later here we are,
still in love and best friends to boot. ;)

WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH MY BETTER HALF, SHE MOVED TO NEW ENGLAND MIDWAY THRU 10TH GRADE. SEVERAL YEARS AND 2 BAD MARRIAGES (1 EACH) LATER I GET A DINNER INVITATION FROM AN OLD FRIEND, DIDN'T HAVE AN IDEA I WAS BEING SET UP ON A BLIND DATE - 15 YEARS LATER I'M STILL WITH HER, MY BEST FRIEND AND BIGGEST SUPPORTER OF MY FISHING HABIT!!! GREAT GIRL! I HAVE 2 KIDS OF MY OWN AND 2 GREAT STEP SONS, NEW HOUSE IN SUNNY FLORIDA AND IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER.
