Default Walk-behind Lawn Aerator

Anybody ever used one? I used one 4 days ago and just now getting back to where I can walk normally again.

That thing beat me up pretty bad. I think if you had a pretty small, flat yard it might be too bad. My yard is nowhere near large, but plenty of variation, slopes and it is spread out over a couple acres.

I doubt I ever do that again. My other option at the time was to pay someone $275 to do it. I paid $58 to DIY, but $275 isn't sounding too bad for next year.

Just wondering if anyone else has been there and done that.

Several years ago i aerated the baseball and soccer fields for the local high schools. That was an easy gig, pulled it behind a Kubota tractor. Everything nice and level, nothing in the way.

I failed to mention half of the airless front tire delaminated and came off about 15 minutes in leaving me with only half a tire. It made it want to track off to the left and since that is part of the propulsion, it made it harder to go uphill, etc.

Then about 3/4 the way in the drive chain came off. Ran back to the house and grabbed my big screwdrivers and got it back on pretty quick.

I'm not doing that again. If I think I might want to do it again next year, I'll come back here and re-read this thread first.
