Default Winter fishing in Connecticut

Ok, are you ready for some cold weather fishing? I mean real cold weather....

This is what we do when is cold outside and cabin fever starts f#$@%$ with one's brain ::)

we go ICE FISHING:

here's a nice yellow perch out of Candlewood Lake:

Fat SMB:

Another perch:

LMB:

Pickerel:

and on and on... ;D

Some of you may say: oh man that's cold!

In reality it is not, sometimes I break a swet with all the clothing on, on top of that we take our camping stoves and we cook full meals ON THE ICE
uhhh.... we have a couple of cold ones too ;)

Anyways, Spring time is here and the only ice I need is to be stirred with Gin ;D

Happy Easter

Joe

Nice pics bassarama. I know it's not as much fun, but do you set tip-ups to use in conjunction with the jigging rods? That's what we typically do up here. I didn't do any ice fishing at all this year. Mostly because of my health issues.

Yeah I set up a couple of tip-ups, I dislike pulling fish by hand and all the tangles that comes with it.

I came up with this set I nick name it Dead Sticks,

when ready it’ll work as a tip up. It’ll have a spring loaded flag and all the works. I’ll be able to see the flag in the distance and still enjoy the light rod and reel fish fight.

A good friend of mine introduced me to this winter sport, now I’m hooked…I’m fortunate enough to live at walking distance of a coupe of very productive reservoirs, also there’s many lakes within 30 minutes driving time. Connecticut is a great State, one never gets tired of the same O’l sh&3t. Minus the high taxes that is…

8)Bass those are some nice fish. Looks like alot of fun. That's something I doubt I'll ever get to do. I would, its just that I never make it up north much.

Great report. Keep us southern boys filled in on the fishing up there and we'll do the same ;)
