Default New Trailer

My old Calkins galvanized trailer will probably be making its last road trip this summer when it takes my boat to the ramp. One of the cross members has a small split in it.

Any thoughts for a trailer that is used to launch, takeout, and take the boat to the doctor's once per year? Longest trip is less than 8 miles at 30 mph. I've got an 84 V20 cuddy with a 200 Mercury 2 stroke. Guesses as to what a replacement trailer will cost?

thanks

I m in Florida, so hard to say about your local market, but trailer prices have gone crazy, you could probably get away with a single axle for such short trips. Down here aluminum bunk trailers are the norm.

Prices range from 1500 to 2500.

Also some mechanics down here have loaner trailers for customers who keep boats in slips

Have u asked your mechanic if he has one

I like 2 axle, tortion axle. galvanized. roller trailers. Two good places to look are Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. As a last resort check eBay. (Their prices are insane).

Like Phat said, prices have gone through the roof for new trailers. As for the cross member, if that's the only problem just buy a new one. Cost you around 250-300 dollars. Heck of a lot cheaper than a new trailer. Several places on the internet that sell them.

I have a 2012 single axle load rite trailer and it’s fine,no problems towing my V20 with a 150 2 stroke and 55 gallons of gas plus 20 rods, lunch and a few tackle bags. I bought it from camp marine in Toms River New Jersey in 2012 that’s all they do or did and a single axle will be fine. No brakes on trailer just give yourself plenty of space. But im sure you knew that don5 know what they cost now but I bet they are pricey. Try to find a good used one. You don5btow far. Galvanized of course

I've got the trailer that was under my v20 for sale, it's an older single axle galvanized. Will need new tires but otherwise solid. I have it on fb market place for $1200. If anyone on here is interested, $1000. I've got a tamden axle aluminum also, brakes need work. Asking $2500. New trailer prices have gone thru the roof. A new single galvanized will run around $3500, tamden aluminum around $5000
