Got her running off an auxiliary tank today. I’m gonna drain the tank but don’t know how to go about it.
Anybody?

Somebody may have a better way, but I’ve done it two ways.
You can get a bulb type pump with hose on both sides of the bulb (it’s been so long, I don’t recall where I got it) and start a siphon going and drain into gas cans. I’ve found that to be a little difficult to get the siphon going. The other way is to get some fuel hose and a double barb fitting to extend the gas line out the transom drain hole to the gas cans. Have some paper towels and/or kitty litter to soak up any gas you spill when you’re unhooking and hooking up the gas line extension.

Yes!!!!! If any gas spills into the bilge you don’t want it running forward and staying in the boat. If it doesn’t blow the boat up, it will at least make it smell like gas - not a happy smell to have in your boat.

So are you guys saying stick the hose in the fuel fill, or hook up a hose to the tank itself?

During Hurricane season, I keep my boat full. That gives me 60 gallons on generator gas on hand. I hook a primer bulb to the downstream side of the racor fuel filter, the one before the engine, then a long piece of fuel hose to 5 gallon cans
Like everyone said, raise the bow. If u suspect trash in the tank, your probably going to have to pull the sending gauge and pull the final 3 or 4 gallons with a hose and fuel Pump |

I suspect the tank to contain somewhere around 30ish gallons of old gas. I’m guessing at least a year. I pulled up the tank hatch to connect the fuel line to a remote tank. I’m gonna connect a length of fuel line to the tank and pump it out from there. Somehow.
So here’s a question. Can I run it in my car, or should I dispose of it?

I would dispose of it
Nothing likes crappy fuel Harbor freight has a battery powered transfer pump for 10-15 bucks, you would have to pull the sending unit, but it would get the gas the pickup tube can t get |

I use old gas (it's really not that bad) in my lawnmower, rototiller, and pressure washer. Never had a problem with it. Just when you drain it let is settle for a day, then look at it carefully. If it's contaminated with water the water will settle out to the bottom. I would dispose of that gas. But if it's clear with no water in it and it smells like gas instead of turpentine it's probably safe to use, especially if mixed with fresh gas.

i looked at the battery pump from harbor freight. i'm not sure the pickup tube will fit in the sending unit hole.
