Default Crazy Idea?

As a Floridian, I feel for the people of the Bahamas that have been undergoing unimaginable terror over the last day or two! I live on a river in Tampa and feel extremely lucky that we always seen to be missed by a major hurricane.

I have just acquired a 1986 V20 CC and added a 2015 Mercury 150 4 stroke EFI. I have only had it in the water a few days, I am incredibly happy with it.

The distance between West Palm Beach to the Bahamas in only about 90 miles. Would it be possible to get a fleet of V20s together and make the trip to deliver supplies? Or, would this be an insignificant gesture and we would just be in the way?

Would the V20 be a good vessel to make this trip? Looking for all thoughts on this. Yes, I may have been on the water all day with a beverage or two?

Cool

The thought is wonderful. But in practicality it's not such a good idea.

The ocean after a major blow like this will still be roiled to the point that our boats would not make it. They would be swamped and we would all probably die. At the very least, instead of helping, we would become the objects of a massive search, pulling much needed resources away from the very people that we were trying to help. If the ocean were calm then yes, it *might* be possible, assuming that everyone had extra fuel aboard to make that long of a trip. Lets say 90 miles @ 25 miles per hour = a 4 hour trip.

This is not the time of the year to be thinking about such a voyage. It's Hurricane season. Look at the sat images of Dorian and you can already see another storm in it's wake. I can guarantee there will be another one after that, and another after that one. They average about once a week for the next two months. So the sea will not have any time to calm down.

Your idea is a wonderful one and if anyone wants to help those people I would suggest the best way would be to make a donation to the American Red Cross.
