hearing very good things about them except for teh price, I think it was a 22% price increase over the last years models. The 175/200/225 at 480 lbs hit the mark on the head. The 200 will walk away from the Yamaha 200 with ease. The new V8's are no slouch either, with the 300R supposedly making 338 hp. I've heard of one V8 having an internal issue at 12 hours, might have been a fluke. If I were in the market, I'd wait another year to get all the bugs out before buying, but they would be high on my list if I could afford one

Only issue I ve heard on the V s is finding one to buy.
The inline 4 has had some bearing failures and i personally have had alternator trouble with mine, but merc made it good. Also tstats & oil drain plug corrosion has been an issue |

So I surfed the Mercury site. They certainly make my Grady265 repower decision a bit harder. 500 pound 4 stroke V6 225s! Made in USA! I'm hesitant to be a first year guinea pig though.
I was firmly in the Suzuki I4 - DF200AP camp. They are still probably more available and reasonably priced... I 'm leaning towards running the OX66s another year before I commit to $36k+ in motors

I went to the AC Boat Show and inquired about the new Mercury V6 Fourstroke 225. A pair will cost me $40k (All-in) with digital controls. That matches Yamaha i4 200s. Suzuki i4 200s are $36k all-in digital
Mercs for repower won't be available until Dec19-Feb20. Looks like I'm running the 2 strokes for another season and seeing how the new Mercs fare on new boats this summer.

early reports show gear case issues with the V8's. Shift actuator issues with both V6 and V8, recall and update already underway. I'd give them a year before purchasing. the Mercs are report-ably faster than the Yamaha's by quite a margin. Suzuki 4 cylinders tend to repower better than the Yamaha's on heavier boats as their increased displacement makes a ton of torque(about 40 lbs heavier in weight as well). The Yamaha 4 cylinder 200's have been a bit of disappointment in performance
