Default Bottom Paint

Alright guys so I did something today that wasn't very smart. I plan on keeping my boat in the water so I neee bottom paint and when I bought the boat the previous owner left the boat in the water for a year without it so I had a line I could follow for my paint. But today I'm preping the top sides for paint by sanding and I accidentally sanded the line for my bottom paint and now I don't have anything to follow. Does anyone have the owners manual for a 78 v20 steplift that can send me the measurements for the paint or if someone who has bottom paint of theirs would kindly do some measuring for me I would surely appreciate it. Thanks Austin

I could be wrong, but every boat sits a little differently in the water. There is no guideline as to where you should paint. You could probably look at another V20 and get a ballpark idea as to where the line should be.

Cool

When I go to a marina and see professionals marking where to paint a bottom they do it by putting the boat in the water fully loaded with water and fuel. Then they wade out to the boat while it is still in the water and with what looks like a grease pencil they mark a series of lines along the hull where the actual waterline is. Then they make another set of lines about 2-4" higher. They then pull the boat and use those top lines as their template for where to actually paint the bottom paint.
