I'm so glad I can't really make it out, can't identify it in the photo. I'll just pretend it never happened.

Pipe dream I just went thru your photos, you have a really nice boat, it's funny how I look at it and say yo myself, what a great looking vessel , I have a 1978 v 20 and never get tired looking at her, just like you I feel I have the nicest boat on the water And the older she gets the more I love her, That's right I said love I own her for over 20 years I'm the secound owner And never get tired looking at her, I think they made a huge mistake when they stopped making that hull design,,,, just my opinion Beautiful boat you have there pipe dreams

steplift20, thanks for the kind words. I can't believe how much time has passed since those photos were taken, mostly 12 years ago when we repainted and repowered. I'm reaching a point where I'm working on divesting myself of things -- some land, a couple old cars, some of my old "collectible" stuff -- but one item that's not on the block is the old Pipe Dream. As long as she and I are up for it we'll keep getting out on the water and enjoying it as much as we can.

Cheers!

Out of 40 boats only took 1 to the landfill.

A 16 foot Orion trihull, she was rotted out bad. All said and done made $630 on her though.

Cost 70 bucks to take her to the landfill on Little Neck road.

Cant have a fuel tank, batteries, or oil.

Helps to have a roller trailer.

Anyone want a '77 Chaparral 21?

Cool

I used to buy boats or free haul away junks, strip them and then scrap them. Cost me $89 a ton or part of a ton before I got a permit that allowed for the actual weight rather than "any part thereof". Anyways, I've scrapped several dozen. Never lost money on any one of them. You can always find useful items on old boats.. anchors, chocks, rope, porta potties, coolers, you name it, I've probably found it. (Even found a small outboard under a front dodger once)... I've never scrapped a V20.... Renkins, Cruisers, Inc, Bayliners even a few Whalers (with huge holes in them)... If I bring home another boat I'm going to have to find a new wife... and the one I have has a high replacement cost, so I'm pretty much out of that business.

Yep, I only lose money on the ones I keep. The ones I flip are pretty profitable which then goes to offset the cost of the ones I keep.

I picked up a 15 horse mariner that had been laying in the weeds and was thought to be locked up, turned out it was in gear.

Painted and sold God only knows how many danforth anchors.

I call my wife "The Enabler". At one point I owned 10 boats and 14 trailers.

Whats funny is I'll be out running the V or the skiff and see other boats or engines I've owned before in the river or the sound pretty often. One was a boat I sold to a guy that had an engine that I had sold to another guy on it.
