Default South Timbalier - Louisiana - Cobia

Capt Marty boats another nice South Timbalier Cobia. Note the rigs in the background and the horns going off, can be quite loud and annoying sometimes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul5AsJEniJU

cobia sandwich for lunch today, just had fried speckle trout for supper!!!
no disrespect to the man upstairs but, screw Christmas. this is the most wonderful time of the year!!!
3 more weeks till snapper season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did yall chum him up or were yall sight fishing?
i got one sunday by chance while trout fishing. on our way back in from cat island my buddy james said he saw a cobia and turned the boat around. i said no way, not in here. sure enough there he was just hanging out around the channel marker. he wasnt hungry but we started chopping up some of our trout and chumming with that. james never caught a cobia before so i didnt tell him to stand back when i put him in the boat lol

That cobia was caught by dropping a jig to the bottom and jigging it up, we usually bounce around and drop a jig at platforms after we have a snapper limit. Sometimes we see them on the surface when approaching a platform but most often they hit the jig on the way up.
