Well at this point all I can add is you'll get better coverage with Pine Bark Mulch......

Looking good Ridge... looking good..... That things gonna sparkle when you're done.
And I totally agree with you on the tool of destruction/surgical tool. I love mine. I can carve holes, cut lines, etc. with surgical precision. Great for cutting sheetrock, wood, laminate, fiberglass... you name it.

Make an appropriate size core replacement from 5/8" CDX PT PLYWOOD. Glassed up the backside and ground the edges so that it can be tabbed into place later
NV Repower 011.jpg Held the piece in place and marked where the old holes were, layed up 1.5 oz CSM where the gauges weren't, slapped it in place and held it there overnight with some small ss screws NV Repower 012.jpg Beveled the edges of the holes so they could be filled with layer upon layer of CSM NV Repower 014.jpg The work area NV Repower 017.jpg

Layed up layers of CSM until it was a little bit highNV Repower 018.jpg
NV Repower 019.jpg Waiting on this stuff to turn to plastic now.... ![]() Side note: If this looks like work, looks ain't deceiving.. Grinding always makes for itch, glassing is messy th way I do it.. If you look at the pictures you can see where I used the grinder to remove some gel coat from around the steering shaft. You can see where the builder left the surface fairly rough. Basically gel coat over matt after a quick wipe down.

Next favorite tool for this stuff is a Makita 5" grinder. Baby grinder I should say. Load the PSA backed 40 grit and let her eat..

I know, no glamorous teak here. Small repair cost about $200 in materials with about half the materials left over to build a bow pulpit. Quart of gel was $36. It has the wax added so it would dry tack-free. Not sure what that will do to the shelf life. I thought I would share, it is a labor of love really, not so much work, and instantly gratifying. That is something that I need from time to time... A completed project. Thanks for looking..

I am constantly amazed at the level of skill that various people here have when it comes to projects like this. Ridge, those repairs are a thing of beauty and a joy to behold. I could only wish to have half that amount of skill. I'm really pretty good on a milling machine or a lathe, or most metal working machines, but I totally suck on things like you are doing. A tip of the old Bosun's hat to you sir. Well done!!
