Smile V with curtains is fantastic

I've had a center console, and now with the V I'm WAY more comfortable.

Front and side curtains means staying warm and dry.
Here in NJ, fishing from April to December that means a lot.

Guess I'm getting old because when I see other boaters running huddling behind the tiny center console front windshield I just don't want that anymore.

Down in Fla and such.....that's another story...... remove the V curtains and just use the bimini to keep from burning ! All good with the V !

Cool

I couldn't agree more. If I had the money an enclosure would absolutely be the first thing I would get for my V. Truthfully, I've never understood the appeal of a center console. (Oh, I know that for fishing they make getting around the boat easier, but a walk around design does the same thing, and you still get a cuddy that way). But even without an enclosure, the shelter provided by my windshield, bimini and cuddy are still more than a center console would give me. I just wish I could get the set-up like you have Greenie.

Back in 1999 when I put my 1st V together...the '74, one of the main things I did was a full, four sided enclosure...forked over $1800 for it and never regretted a penny of it...secure a propane heater inside during hard winter, fished 12 months and LOVED it...

Front and side curtains are a great start...the rear panel is icing on the cake...

My enclosure was done by a one man operation - Sam / Dynamic Upholstery, Cherry Hill NJ. Phone # is 856-779-9000. Welcome to send me a PM if you want more info.......
Probably wouldn't have the curtains if I didn't find this guy.

Back to performance - countless times out on the ocean, breeze picks up, running along, spray fiies and pours down the front / side curtains and there we sit, dry. Nice.

Spent a few days knocking these out for the Sea Ox.
Came out pretty good.
Still learning but getting better at it.
I actually enjoy these projects.
Lots of time involved making patterns and you earn your money doing canvas/upholstery work.
Was going to try to put smiley zippers in the front but didn't have the room to roll or flip them up with the electronic box.

Nice work!

I have always wanted an enclosure for my V but just haven't done it, but I had 4 sides on my old Grady White, it was awesome.

Been lovin mine ever since I bought from Franco....nothing like it. In the summer I've been running just the front curtain and cannot tell you how many buckets of water I/we didn't have to eat on the way to the fishing grounds.....makes for easy conversations in the cockpit too without all the noise. Love it.
