Yup... See? That's what I'm talking about. See how nice and skinny they are? But don't be fooled by them. Inline 6 engines are noted for their torque, so your hole shot is very agressive. Beautiful engines... Good pics...thanks Chart.
![]() (Only thing I'd be worried about is those are Mariner engines. Made by Mercury, but they have a rep for not being top of the line like a Mercury is. I've never had one, so I can't comment other than to say that I've heard they were made with cheaper parts. Maybe one of our engine doctors can comment further)

mariner was a "saltier" version of the merc. mercury had the rep of made to go fast , not to last. mariners had a few more coats of paint and some stainless fasteners. down here omc was the salt water motor & merc dominated fresh. mariner line changed a lot of that. also i think mariner 40 hp and lower were yamahas.

I knew there was some reason for the different line...

Some say MARINER was designed for saltwater whereas MERCURY was for freshwater, but in all reality it was like JOHNSON and EVINRUDE. Same engine, different name on the side of it. The tower of powers are good engines and LIGHT(weighed right around 300 pounds or a little less for close to 150HP at the flywheel).

It would be nice, if the engine manufacturers would get weight down on the newer engines. I piloted a friend of mine's 18ft mako one time that had a 150 inline six on it. I did remember the torque and how smooth the engine was.

the motors are marked 115 just below the power head. so they are 115HP right or not? If they are 150HP i might buy them and put one on mine. my 225 is about shot.
