no way that ship should have ever left port. His "bravado" got the best of him. Reminds me of the Whale Wars guy, big attitude, lots of speeches, lots of naive followers, all following him to hell.
Kinda like our current Government

Good read Pipe...I agree with Spare, they had no business in a ship in that condition on the open ocean period, much less in a hurricane.
Sounds like a lot of persistant problems came to a head all at once at the worst possible time. Something known to happen on the sea.

Even with the best estimates, she was taking on water at almost 50 gallons per minute. What idiot would ever take a boat out with that kind of leaking? And she had been in drydock 3 times to fix the leaks. Did they not ever hear of fibreglass? I know that money was a problem, but loosing your life is kinda up there on the problem scale also. It's not nice to speak ill of the dead, but that captain proves Ron Whites saying... "you can't cure stupid".
