Default Well, going to look at this boat....

and probally going to buy it. Price is right. Its a 26 footer, with the little apartment in it. 302 ford i/c. Its a 1975, and talked to the guy at lengh today about it...says it literally needs just cleaned up...LOL We will see about that. Going to look at it tomorrow, and probally bring it home on saturday.

anyways, I need to change computers, so I can put a facebook link to a photo of it up here....since I still cant have a gallery for some reason.
Can you guys take a gander at what this thing actually is? I was told it was a 26' "Cruiser Yacht" by MFG possibly. Has a kitchen-ette in it, shower, head, and sleeps 4.

those old Ford engines weren't too bad, if its an 888, its a 302, with 351 heads and camshaft(firing order of a 351 as well), if its a 215 or 235, its a 351. The biggest issue i see with older I/O boats is the drive and transom plate. Down here they don't last long enough to get old, the salt takes them out while they are still pretty young, but in fresh water, I've seen them last for 30+ years, they can still $1000 you to death, but the will keep you on the water. Take a good look at the transom, with the drive in the up position, lay across the drive and see if a gap opens up where the transom plate meets the transom. A large bead of caulk is usually a dead give away that the transom is bad. Also ask how long its been since its had manifolds and risers. If you are thinking about repowering, best bet is to look for a clapped out bayliner that the interior/floor/transom is bad and can be bought cheap. Look for 1990 and newer(Alpha 1 gen II). Pull everything out of the donor boat and swap it out. If its a Cruisers Yacht, I still have some contacts with Cruisers Inc. Soem of the old guys are still around up there.

This thing is suppose to run like a dream...cough cough.....idles well, and was out walleye fishing over the summer on Erie. If it runs well, I probally wont mess with it, untill it needs it. Im am thinking for the money, i almost cant go wrong. What do you think spare??

"Cruisers Yacht" yep thats it, cant find too much info on them. What info do you have?

Cruiser's is now owned by KCS International, they also build the rampage yachts now. i don't know where they used to be built, but they are now being built in Oconto Wisconsin. I used to work for a Cruisers dealer, smallest thing they make now is a 29. Check out the drive real good, see if it has any water in the gear oil, check the bellows and make sure there's no slop in the gimbal ring. If you decide to upgrade the engine to a chevy, you'll have to change everything. If its doesn't seem to run right, check that firing order, seen plenty of mechanics wire the plug wires like a 302, but the mercruiser runs the 351 cam and fires like a 351
