Default Tachometer needed for 96' V 21

Tach reads crazy .......up to 8,000 rpm up down etc.......mechanc says need new one .


Anyone know where to find one that fits the existing dash hole properly ?

most tachs are the same size, try tapping on it while its running, if it settles down, look on the back, there should be an adjustment pot, turn the pot to another selection, then turn it back to where it was, some times this will fix it. If you want to change it out, there are numerous choices to replace it with,

I'll give it a try - mechanic told me it was shot but he couldn't find a brand to fit.

I would probably be searching for a new tech as well then, tach seems too basic to not be able to replace.

anytime i had a tach go bad, it went to zero, erratic readings usually was a symptom of other problems
he should have a shop tach to just hook the wires up and see if the problem goes away

I agree w/PD here big time...shop tach time for sure...and I gotta tell ya...if that mechanic can't find a tach to fit, I'd be lookin' for a new mechanic...they are a standard size and have been forever...
