Default Anyone have any info on Offshore Marine of Offshore Yachts?

Not a darn thing I can find via google. I'm looking to buy this

22 foot bay boat. Just have questions about build quality, etc. As usual, whenever a builder goes tits up and leaves no trace, that usually means bad things.

I don't know a whole lot about them, but they were sold in LARGE numbers down here in Clearwater back in the late 80's. They were a local boat company. They were a decent boat, but every one I have looked at has had deck problems. They ride OK if your not in a hurry, but the sides are pretty low. They also don't need alot of HP to push them decently as the one I rode in had a 140 SUZUKI and would push 4 people no problem at a decent clip.

Ferm:

Thanks for the first solid info that I've gotten on this thing. This one has new deck and stringers within the last year. My main concern is the transom. The Current owner states that 4 years ago, when he had the bracket made and installed, he also had a boat yard close the transom and they decided not to replace the whole transom at that time because the yard claimed that it looked solid. He states that it was every bit as solid when they did the deck and stringers last year.

The transom is the reason I'm getting rid of my V and into this. This boat has lots of goodies, but I'm a bit gun shy. What can I do to avoid the rotten transom blues.

I think it would be worth a couple hundred bucks for a survey. That should tell you what youre working with. If not, at the very least get a moisture meter and do some testing on transom, deck etc.

I mean, like you said, your getting rid of the V bc of transom issues so you damn sure dont want more.....and there is a decent chance of that with an older used boat.

Sorry I dont have any specific info on the hull, never seen one

You talked me into the survey. I'm trying to work this out with the owner right now.
