This is the second time I am posting this question. I put it in general category the first time instead of performance. My mistake.
Hello all. In the process of looking at a 1978 Wellcraft V20 cuddy with a Mercruiser 4.3 Vortec. I am not sure if its a 2bbl or a 4bbl. Either way I was looking for some opinions on the expected performance. I would appreciate some info on both the 2 and the 4. Thanks guys and gals. |

I take it your looking at this one? I would expect the performance to be pretty good out of it if the engine is in decent shape. My only concern would be how smooth it runs as not all of the 4.3L's have the counter balance shaft in them.

That is in deed the one I am looking at. Any thoughts? I am yet to own one and my experience comes from my membership in boat clubs. Any suggestions as to what I should look out for?
Thanks in Advance. |

boat looks clean in the pics, thats a 2bbl 4.3(175 hp I think), should be a balance shaft motor, It has the one piece manifolds on it, which are great in design, they just don't make them any more. Boat looks way too clean for a salt boat, if you get serious about it, have a good qualified sterndrive mechanic check it out. Performance should be in the low 40s/high 30s. Comperable to the 3.7 liter 4 cylinders
