Default New Kid On The Block

Hey all! just wanted to introduce myself as I just joined the forum and am in the hunt for a new-old fishing boat. My name is Joe and I hail from Sound Beach, LI, NY. Sound Beach is on the North Shore of Long Island approximately 80 minutes North East of NYC. My home Port is Mt. Sinai which is just a little over a mile from my house. I currently own two boats; 1987 Thompson 290 and a 2003 Rinker 270 Fiesta Vee. This wonderful economy we live in has forced me to keep the Thompson on the hard with hopes of selling sometime in the near future and my Rinker stranded in the water with a blown head gasket waiting a tow to lay her up for the Winer. Once the Rinker is on the hard and all winterized, I will have my mechanic install a new head gasket and both port and starboard side risers and manifolds and prep her for sale. She is a lovely boat but just too much $$ for me at this time so she must go. With that said, I am looking at Mako and Wellcraft for a 20' - 22' walk around type fishing boat to enjoy with my wife and kids, Joe Jr.- 9, Aidan- 6, and hopefully get some nice cold weather fishing in soon.
Anyhow, glad to be here and a part of the community!

Hi, hail and welcome. Go with the Wellcraft.. you won't be disappointed. Prices should start to drop now that it's getting colder and a lot of people don't want to pay to store their boats. Good luck in your hunt.

For sure. I am actually in touch w Craigan about his 87 V20 DC. Seems like this boat has had a lot of love in its life but lately has been a bit neglected due to his new baby and the crazyness of life. I am in a good stage where I can restore her love and even trick her out a bit as my boys are old enough to be able to play on their own and maybe even lend a hand from time to time.

that boat has been in the V20 family here for awhile as it used to belong to bygracealone, another member here who did the bracket conversion on it.

Yeah I know that's why I am so attracted to it. I've been reading all the posts on her since 2006; I am a sucker for history. Especially seeing my intent is to keep this boat in my family till she rests at the bottom of the ocean. I have big plans for her, or whichever boat I choose, so I must choose wisely.

Be warned those DC owners are a strange breed.
