Default Engine Removal Help/New User to site

So, my son and I just purchased/traded for a 77 V20 cc this last weekend. It appears that we are going to have to replace the transom in the boat. First though, we have to get the Evinrude 200 off the boat. I have a cherry picker but would like to know what is the best method to attach to the engine so we can get it off of the boat cleanly!?! Your help is much appreciated in advance.

I use 2 5/16" fine thread bolts into the top of the flywheel to hold about a 12" piece of chain and lift em up that way.

Yeah, its a 91 Evinrude 200 motor. I will look for the loop or use the bolts. Thanks for your help gents...

Hi.. Welcome to the site. Phatdaddy's correct on the older OMC's having a lifting loop, but I have a 91' Johnson 200.. essentially the same engine as yours... and there is no lifting loop on mine, so I doubt you'll fine one on yours. TheFermanator is a professional mechanic I believe.. if he says use 2 bolts and some chain then that's what I'd use. Send pics of the boat... we love pics on this site.. lets us see what's going on in the outside world.. MJ keeps us prisioners in his basement.

If you can't find the right bolts I have used a heavy duty strap with good success before. Bolts or liftying loop would be much better though.
