Default Fuel system setup

Just redid transom, setting up gas tanks ( 20 gal saddle tanks ) wondering should I use just one racor setup for both tanks, or should I use one per tank. If I do one per tank then I need some kind of " y " fitting to get one line back to the motor, correct? When I got the boat it was already gutted so I don't know the best way to do it. Thanks

Oh and if you haven't yet decided on a rodholder setup.

Under normal conditions one separator would be enough for 40 gals. but with dual tanks you might be better off with two to determine if one tank is collecting moisture more than the other. The valve set-up that Tsubaki posted works but I wonder if ya used one separator head and connected both feed lines from the tanks would the engine draw from both tanks simutan, simutin,aw heck,at the same time. Not sure if it will work but it would be nice to keep things balanced.

There are 3 way valves out there that allow you to draw from one tank or the other or both at the same time.. depending on how you position the lever. Or, you can do like I do, and have a main tank connected to one side of the valve and on the other side of the valve intake I have a standard brass Johnnyrude fitting so that I can hook up portable (plastic) tanks for those extra long trips. The output line of the valve then goes into my filter, and then from there to the engine.
