Default 24 airslot

I am a new member. I am looking at an old 24' airslot. It had an i/o but it is gone. I think it had a 350chevy. How big of an outboard would it take to push this hull? There was a website that talked all about the airslot, but it appears to be gone. Any other websites that might have info on the airslot? Any airslot owners here? How do they ride? How stable at a drift?

thanks

I ran a 21' for a few years, with a 305 Chevy in it. Very good numbers. The 24 came from the factory with a 350 or twin 165's as I remember. I suspect it would take a minimum of 225 to make it run OK. Twin 150's might be ideal? Not really sure. Actually, I'll bet a 225 would do the job fine.

A 200-225HP 2 stroke will do the job on a 24 AIRSLOT. They were offerred with the old 235HP outboards, but those old 235's are equal to about a 175-200 by todays standards.

Friend of my Dad's has one and I think he was pushing it with a 175 Mercury black max--maybe a 200 black max. Ran out pretty well.

If it were mine, 225 would be the LEAST hp I'd put on it...250 would be better...it's a heavy hull...I think back to friend's 21' Rabalo w/a 200 Black Max...underpowered at that, so like said, 225 least...be sure to get a 25 or even 30 inch shaft motor as a 20 inch tends to bury in the wake when powering down a bracketed boat...
Good luck w/your project...take some pics as you go for posting here...
