This is up on a mud bank in the Jerico River near the I-95 bridge.......in my duck hole!
Question is, can I take things from it? The owner has abandoned it before down river. It has an anchor roller on it that I want bad,,,,,a good one and tons of railing and a ss wheel and a bunch of good looking junk,,,I mean treasure. So, whats the law say. Thanks guys.

taking anything off it would be theft. If you lay claim to salvage the vessel then you are responsible for its removal. If your going to take something off it just make sure you don't get caught.

You could always find the owner and ask for permission to take stuff off of it. Get the registration number and call wildlife resources or whoever does boat reg there in Ga.
I'd bet he would say yes....why would he care.

I'd follow Randlemans advice on that one. I salvaged a 37ft Colonial wooden boat years ago. It was beached (swamped) at a local marina and the owners signed it right over to me . I pumped it out, repaired the leaking hull and moved it closer to where I live, after obtaining a moving permit from the NC Wildlife Commision. I prepared it, to take it to a shipyard nearby but a hurricane ended my plans. I still salvaged alot of good useful stuff off of it. I'd check the hull out good, it might be a good candidate for salvage and rebuild or repair!

Yeah I figured I couldn't just start taking things from it. I have passed it 3 times in the last month with tools ready but just don't want to get in trouble over a anchor roller and a bow rail. That jackass owner is in the river a good bit.
I dont get it....he anchored the boat down river this fall and it ended up in the marsh during the spring tides. I saw the DNR bring it back to his dock and now it is up the river inthe marsh again. How would someone, hypathetically, go about sinking a cruiser of this size the most effective way. This would make an awsome beach reef.................................
