Unhappy Help! tilt/trim problem

It's fishing weekend and my tilt/trim unit stopped lifting last night (on the way back from some stripers at Block Island).

1993 mariner 135.

The unit will not lift or trim up. It goes down fine. I can hear the solenoid click to engage the pump motor to go up just nothing happens. The motor doesn't even attempt to run. If I jump the lift solenoid nothing happens.

Everything on the down system works fine, it is just the up that gets nothing from the pump motor.

My question is can the pump motor fail in just one direction? That doesn't seem right to me. The wiring seems ok I just need to know if there is anything I can check before pulling the tilt/trim unit out (pain in the butt!). Can I get to the wiring on top of the motor with out taking the whole unit off?

If I give power to the lift motor wire it does nothing. So the problem must be internal in the pump motor. Are the motors serviceable or should I just try to find a cheap motor?

The solenoid still works, thats the problem. It is sending power to the motor, the motor just doesn't do anything with it. Problem seems internal in pump motor.

just cause it clicks it doesnt mean its working, buy a new one for about 20 dollars and see ifks or just take the other one that you no works and hook it up to the raise trim side

I understand. I figured if it clicked it was good. I'll check it in the morning (switch with the good one).

Thanks for the help guys!

Too bad there won't be any parts places open Sunday or Monday.

I think you guys are right. one of the terminals on the solenoid spins slightly. If I spin it just right I can get the solenoid to work.

Hopefully it holds out just one more day until I can get a new one.

We're headed back to Block Island this morning to see if we can snipe some stipers again.

Thanks for the help I'll update when I confirm the diagnoses.
