cleaning carbs on a 1991 225 evinrude

How hard is it to clean the carbs on a 1991 evinrude 225? Any tips? Thanks

Not hard at all, My engine has the same type of carbs.
Its important to note unlike the metal carbs these plastic ones do not get submerge in any type of cleaning solvent period just use any carb and choke cleaner and spray away.
Mark each carb as you remove it , take it to clean work area and do your cleaning, have a compressor or compress air cans you will need it to flush the jets clean.
Observe each jet as you remove it , each one is stamped with its bore size on the side and top of the jets .
Hoses should be secured with not metal clamps but plastic tie wraps or snapper clams from OMC if you like.
I use my angle grinder to shape regular flat screwdriver to fit into the hole to remove my high speed jets (OMC tool my A**)
Very important NOT to use gasket sealer to attach the carbs to the intake/throttle body it will clog the air way
Float adjustment is key, Let me know if you need info on it..
Post pictures and double check your work..

I use an ultrasonic cleaner I got from Harbor Freight, its not the best, but it works real good, and I don't use any caustic cleaners, just water and a splash of purple stuff. I've got my eyes on a 6 liter comercial model, just got to order it

mineral spirits works great to clean the plastic bodies, it won't hurt plastic and easy to pick up a gallon at lowes. laquer thinner for the brass parts like the jets though. no need to remove the entire carb set just remove the plastic body from the back plate with the 4 bolts. all 6 of the carbs are alike so no biggy just take them all off the clean the really good. if you aren't sure of jet locations leave one together while cleaning the rest. just any narrow blade screw driver will work removing the jets and don't forget the main jet under the center screw at the bottom.
