Default Greetings!

Hello all.
Just thought I'd introduce myself, as I am new here. I recently purchased a V20 center console with a 200 mercury black max on the back. Both are 1988 models. I live in Sebastian Florida, but the boat is an inland boat so I believe it has spent most of its life in the fresh water. I have the boat less than 3 months and already rebuilt the engine. Long Story.
I took it out the other night for its first ride after the rebuild in 3 foot seas and it handled about as good or better than any boat I have ever been in!

The floor on mine has a half hearted resto job by the previous owner. I give it 2 years before it's soft again, at which time I'll do it right. In the meantime, I am gonna read this forum and go fishing!!

Thanks!

Rob

Welcome, and good luck with her. You are in one of my favorite towns, or as it is known by one of your residents Mayberry with Internet.
Beautiful place, one of our senior members lives in same town with you.

If you fish with him bring scuba flippers, makes it easier to propel out of the flats.

All that automatic oiling VRO garbage has long since been removed. Nope, after 3 trips to a local parts place/boat dealership for head gaskets, I installed the wrong ones and melted a piston. 75% my bad for not knowing the difference 25% their bad for screwing it up 3 times in a row. I even took them the old one!! The one they sold me was just a hair too small (probably from a 150) and the metal ring encroached into the cumbustion chamber and caused a hot spot, which caused detonation, which blew out the piston. Cost me 350 bucks in parts, and several weekends. Lesson Learned. But she's running good now, and if the weather ever clears up I will take her out tomorrow.

The Sebastian/ Indian River Lagoon area is a REALLY tricky area to navigate with a boat that drafts almost 2 feet. I think outside the channel the average depth is around 4 feet, so I sympathise with anyone who has found themselves grounded.

Mayberry with internet...I love it!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Rob

Reel,

I see you are from spartanburg S.C. My wife went to Bob Jones University (not by her choice) I have a lot of fond memories of Spartanburg. I used to stay there when I would sneak her out of school for the weekend!!Nice town
