Default 2nd shot Fryingpan Tower

The U.S. Govt is going to re-auction this platform that is 40 miles off of Cape Fear NC in some of the finest fishing waters of the area . A group out of SC had been the high bidder and has now backed out . They were going to establish a fishing and dive center out there.
It has about 5000 sq. ft. of living space , helipad and stands on about 40' of live bottom.
Would make a grate spot for a V20 gathering if one of you rich guys would step up !

Cool thing. Will the light still be operated? Are these dangerous shoals?

The light was replaced with a buoy about 5-6 years ago and except for weather equipment
the tower has not been in use . There are many wrecks in the area and the tower is positioned at the tip of Cape Fear shoals which are mean . With the advent of gps the govt figured there was no need to continue the operation of the light which had been present either by lightship or the current tower for over 100 years .

With internet access and 2 or 3 honeys I think I could live out there. How cool. Your closest neighbor is over 40 miles away! Great fishing right under your feet.

To answer this question....No, and a very big yes! They extend about 30-40 miles from the mouth of the Cape Fear river. That's why it's called Cape Fear. I think they just have a bouy out there now. Much cheaper than keeping a light stationed manned 24/7/365. The place is in very bad shape though. I think i read that the heli-pad is un-usable, and a hurricane damaged the spiral stairs going up, so I'm not even sure how you would get on it right now.
