I don't have two motors, but I have 3 tanks.

I think the ball needs to be near the motor hanging down to keep the prime.

Also I once had a tank that would not prime, Later I found that the vaule was not closed all the way on one tank, after I did that I was fine!!

Maybe if you put a Y of some kind you can shut off to one motor so its not leaking friom there?
