With a jack plate you can run your motor higher, theoretically gaining performance. *I know the bass boat guys swear by them, on a V-20, I don't know.

I was thinking about putting one on mine to move the motor back 6-8 inches so that I could use the splashwell area to put in a nice sized livewell.

But that brings up steering cable questions, could you route the cable out from where it comes out of the hull now or would you have to bring it out the transom.

Spare won't have that concern with Hyd. steering.

My thoughts...............who else?
